Gurgaon: CCA School Sector 4 Gurugram, a forerunner in taking initiatives to promote Indian art and culture, on 20 April 2018 hosted yet another Kathak Concert , under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, i.e. Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth.  It is essentially a student movement which aims to conserve and promote an awareness of this rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry among the youth of this country focusing on the classical arts and to create awareness about our rich heritage.

Pt. Deepak Maharaj, an illustrious Kathak Dancer and the younger son of the legendary maestro, Padam Bhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj, was the artist of the day.  An accomplished kathak performer of Kalka Bindadin of Lucknow Gharana, he effortlessly presented his natural flair for profound expressions. The grace and beauty of his concerts are known the world over. The ensemble also had Sh. Paranshu Chaturlal on table, Sh. Varish Khan as the singer, Sh. Anil Mishra on Sarangi.

Air Marshal Anil Chopra, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM, lighted the inaugural lamp as the Chief Guest.  The gathering of other distinguished guests, teachers and student representatives from other renowned schools of Gurgaon were spellbound by the enthralling performance rendered by Pt. Deepak Maharaj.  

In the Lec-Dem, Pt. Deepak Maharaj demonstrated various Mudras including the Makhan Chori between Yashodha and Krishana. His interactive session was appreciated by everybody and the students put questions related to her journey of dance.

The Chief Guest said that this was the true education which promotes the feeling of national integration, keeps alive our traditions & culture and broadens the mind. He also acknowledged his thanks to the Principal and the Chairman for allowing him to be a part of such an enthralling performance.
